So you guys won't bother Mark like I did, the receipt signed 'Paid' is for the rebate form. ;-D
But then, I'm probably the only one that had to ask, too.

      Check Contents!

I noticed on Amazon there were complaints about missing parts. I received my kit Friday (thanks for the quick shipping Mark!) and opened it up today. I have the router motor, 3 bases, large opening sub base and an instruction pamphlet. Missing collets, centering guide, wrench, dust adapter for plunge.
The fit and finish of the plunge base is not that great, particularly where the yellow plastic meets the metal there are some pretty large gaps. Doesn't seem to affect plunge action and everything seems solid. I don't like the plastic lever on the bases.
      Instructions are incredibly weak.
I do like the "stance" of the fixed base, very low profile and solid. Switch position on the motor is good and I kind of like the simple toggle switch. The bases switch very easily. The fine height adjustment ring is plastic and seems very sloppy. I do like the rubber grips on the each of the bases.
Based upon Amazon reviews it seems the missing parts happen from time to time so be sure to watch out for that, however they seem to be really good about taking care of shipping the missing parts.

Note : I still believe this to be a great deal and should show absolutely no reflection on the retailer. It seems that regardless of the distributor/retailer there are from time to time, missing parts.

Thanks for the tip on the potential for missing parts, Jeffrey. I checked mine and all were present and accounted for. The parts you are missing were in a plastic bag inside the dhandle.

          Stupid DeWalt

Got an email back from DeWalt advising that there were too many parts missing to ship, so I should return it to the retailer. We are talking about parts that would fit in a 3" x 3" x 6" box and cost them $5! What a bunch of nits. I hope this is not reflective of service to come for PC, Delta, etc because I have had good results with those companies prior to DeWalt purchase.

EDIT : DeWalts ultimate reply :

Hello Jeffrey, and thanks for using DEWALT's on-line support.

I will replace the parts for you complimentary. Please be aware that this is not our usual policy and that in the future, if you are missing items from a kit you will need to return it to the retailer. Please allow time for delivery.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you. If your question remains unresolved or if you require additional information please update this incident.

          Sincerely,

          Halle Finan

THANKS SO MUCH FOR MAKING YOUR PRODUCT, THAT SEEMS TO HAVE ZERO QUALITY CONTROL, USABLE FOR ME!!!!

            Missing parts?

So out of curiosity if I order something from HDT and there is damage or a part missing I don't sent it back to them, I need to contact the manufacturer?

                TheRic,
I think this was a standard response from DeWalt. They usually deal with folks buying retail. This had nothing to do with HDT specifically, rather as with any online or mail order purchase, I would rather the manufacturer take care of a small item such as this, versus wasting money shipping an item back and forth. It makes more sense to me for DeWalt to simply provide the missing parts versus sending back to retailer to get credit. I am saving DeWalt some money by making a customer service person in their organization do the right, simple, cheaper thing.
                SHADOWFOX,
I was dropping off a tool over at Thom2 house and he advised all his parts were there, though he got (2) 1/2" collets and no 1/4" collets. I purchased a second DeWalt kit from HDT for one of our Canadian friends here on this site since HDT will not ship to Canada. I received that kit today and all those parts were there and seemed to be correct.
Or was it???? Maybe my kit is complete and his is missing stuff . . . . ya that's it! LOL!

Wow. That's wierd. I had just emailed Mark advising that I had gotten a post card from DeWalt stating "Sales receipt does not show item purchased or purchased detail." The receipt should have been identical to the one you sent!

                        So did I, Thom.

                        Jeffrey,
The Dewalt came with 2 receipts, one hand marked 'Paid' or something to that effect. I asked Mark which one to send and that was the one.

I bought mine during Black Friday sale and it came with one receipt. I sent it in the next week and received my rebate today. That was fast for a rebate and $110 total for the 3 piece router kit and an edge guide was the best deal I have had in awhile.

I dug up a number for DeWalt Rebate Center (since they don't put the phone number on the rejection card) and called them 12/06/06. They were supposed to call back the next day. I have not heard from them.
