Bargain(?) - Shop for Sale - NJ

Here's a shop for sale in South Orange, NJ. I think its an object lesson in way too much, but you decide for yourself:

This is a complete amateur furniture-maker/woodworker shop. Many pro-grade tools. This shop has taken over 20 years to assemble, constantly being upgraded. The owner is my father-in-law, an 80-year-old former engineer and fine woodworker who kept the tools well-maintained. Poor health is the reason for the sale. He just doesn't use it anymore.
Tools include: older US-made Delta 3-hp table saw, shaper, lathe, jointer, bandsaw, 6" belt sander and drill press. Several dust-collection systems. Compressor, disc and spindle sanders, compound miter saw, router table w/HD router, mortiser, thickness planer and others. Unimat lathe in plastic enclosure. Approx. 35 power hand tools. Planer, spray guns, dovetail jigs, saw fences, accessories and attachments for all the power tools. DeWalt, Jet, Hitachi, Ryobi, Porter-Cable, MultiCo, Oldham,Stanley, Milwaukee, Bosch, Elu, Fein, Leigh,Woodlawn, LieNielsen and so many others.
Literally hundreds of hand tools. Many high-end chisels and hand planes. Levels, clamps, gauges, sharpening stones. 2 roll-along Craftsman mechanics drawer chests full of tools. Wall cabinet full of power tools. A large collection of finishes, lacquers, stains, oils, glues, fasteners, specialty hardware, hardwood lumber and veneer. Many magazines and reference books. I cannot begin to list them. Itemized Excel tool/asset list available on request. Check this link for more photos

Our intention is to sell the entire shop as one piece, and are currently only listening to offers for the whole shop. We need the space! No shipping. Cash and carry. Easy ground-floor move-out.
Please contact me with questions. I am a carpenter/ex-cabinet maker, and know the shop well. I can answer all questions and am screening inquiries for my father-in-law. The photos are only of about half what is for sale.
Over $60,000 invested. Asking $32,000. If your response looks like a scam or phish, it will be ignored. Responses with phone numbers will be responded to first, though I will probably respond by e-mail unless you say differently. Will furnish electronic (Excel) itemized tool list on request. Thanks, Bruno
I dunno, $32K seems way too much to me. I'm guessing the unisaw, lathe, drill press and bandsaw are worth, what? $3K tops? Well, I post it in case anyone is interested and also symptomatic of things I'm seeing more and more on craigslist, used items at no discount, but instead with a premium. Just my rant, you may differ.

[EDIT: I wrote to Bruno to see if he'd part out the shop. No dice there, or at least not yet, but it seems this is his father in law's shop for which he's trying to help sell. The price may have been fixed by his aging F-I-L without regard to the market. Anyway, I mentioned that his price may be a bit steep and that if he really wanted to move this thing, he might look at an auctioneer/prof'l seller/consolidator or whatever they call them. So, does anyone know of such a type in the NorthEast? I know they exist, and even see stuff for sale through them elsewhere in the country, etc. If anyone knows of such a type, pm me to pass on to Bruno. Seems like he's trying to do the right thing by his family.]

The least he could have done was clean up a little before taping that.
I don't know that I'd want to p-off a guy named Bruno though.

How would I get a hold of this guy, should he part out his shop?

        Curt,
        Several factors combine here:
All the tools in the shop were acquired for $60K over 20 years period and we know prices for tools came down significantly in the past 20 years. It means it would probably have been cheaper to buy same stuff today than 20 years ago even new.
This shop includes much more than initially seems: Stationary tools - router table and separate shaper, jet canister dust collector, lathe, RAS, unisaw, etc. 35 hand power tools.
Accesories and hand tools are actually more expensive that power tools. I believe in a typical shop router bits combined are worth more than routers combined, shaper bits are worth more than shaper, gouges and chucks are worth more than lathe. Lie Nielsen hand tools are usually pricey. Leigh dovetail jig is not cheap. It all adds up. The guy is probably telling the truth about $60K invested over 20 years.

An entirely different question - whom does Bruno expect to see as a potential bidder?
How many amateur woodworkers do you know that would be willing to start a new hobby with $32K upfront? And for somebody already in woodworking, professionally or a hobby, there will certainly be an overlap with existing shop. The only person I can picture possibly bidding for it is some pawn shop operator who wants to buy it all and resell piece by piece for profit, but asking price of $32K does not seem to leave room for profit. I am willing to bet $1 that Bruno will end up parting out the shop or selling it much cheaper than asking price.

            yep.

Yeah, no doubt there's value of that shop in accessories sich as bits and blades, hand tools and etc. But, unless he has dozens of pristine planes and scores of carbide tipped router bits, it still ain't anywhere near a $32K shop. I'm reckoning $5K on all the power tools and $3k on hand tools. Of course, we don't know all that's there, but still way too high. Further, the snadpaper and stain and disposable stuff like that is generally a freebie. I mean are you gonna buy a half can of stain not knowing how old or whether it was kept right?

And as mentioned, who's buying that as a single unit? Well whatever, I thought I'd toss it out there. I think he will have to part it out, but since bruno is out of state, wonder how he'll do it. It'll probably go to some liquidator for a flat $5k rather than piece it out over a month with the hastle of showing the pieces all to earn $8k.

That much stuff to a liquidator? I think not. It will most likely go at a combined auction, as it would be a draw.
