    JET jml-1014vs @ Rockler

I just grabbed one, and I think it is the September special for all Rocklers. Jet mini-lathe with variable speed and a Nova chuck for $299. That is cheaper than the lathe by itself from any other vendor.

That is a very sweet deal!

Did you notice if they had a good price on the chuck alone?

    Regards,
    Tom

I think the chuck was either $149 or $179. Not really a good price in my opinion.

What chuck does the mini lathe come with by default? Does the default chuck do the same thing as the nova chuck but the nova chuck is better or does the nova chuck do something that is not possible with the stock chucks that come with the lathe? The reason I ask is I almost pulled the trigger on the lathe on amazon for $249, but if the nova chuck is something I will need to buy then the rockler deal is much better.

        Thanks!

Edit : Did it come with the G3 or Supernova 2 chuck?

They don't have this special on their website?

Ryan, the Jet mini lathe does not come with a chuck. At least it did not when I got mine. It comes with either a small face plate and spur drive. I got a Talon chuck. Liked it so much got another when I got the Jet 1642. At the price listed above, it sounds like a good deal.

Called my local Rockler yesterday to pick up one of these combo deals. I guess all rocklers don't have them yet. They told me to check middle of next week to see if they have em. Sounds like a good deal.

                Thanks for the info Whit!

Can anyone tell me of a store location that has it for $299? I was finally able to track one down but they show the price as $329. They said they could match the price but would need to call a store that sells it for $299.

                  Thanks!

I went to the Rockler in Schaumburg, Il and they had stacks of these.. Unfortunately due to the water heater expense, I have been banned from spending anymore on woodworking tools.. I hope I win the office baseball bingo pool.. Should be around $300.00 for the winner. I need 4 more numbers to win, I need the Cleveland Indians to score.. 7, 11, 12, and 13 on their next games

I am on second place because the guy that has the NY Yankees only needed 10,12, 13 for the win..

Can someone please post a copy of the receipt showing the price of $299. Planning to pick up the lathe tomorrow for $329 unless I can show them a receipt.

                      Thanks!

Did they happen to mention if this deal will be available online?

                        Thanks.

I don't think this deal will be available online. The impression I got was that it was an older deal where some of the stores have some stock left over. There is a deal for sept. they are planning but it's a combo for the variable speed mini jet lathe and chuck for $449 which doesn't sound too appealing.

                            Ryan,

I got mine at the Mesquite, TX store. I haven't found the receipt yet, but I'm sure that I kept it.

The Rockler add that arrived at my house had this deal on the cover for $299. However, they didn't give the specs or model on the free chuck ($100 value they claimed). Prices good 9/4 - 9/18 or something like that (I know the 4th was the first day).

                              Quantities limited, etc, etc, etc.
