Just ordered the Craftsman model 21829 from the local Sears. Sale price $399 and with the Craftsman Club card price was $358. I think the sale runs through August 26th but am not sure. Pretty good price I think.

BT3100 Clone
Just wanted to say THANKS for all the posts concerning the BT3100 and the Sears 21829. Looked everywhere in San Antonio for a BT3100 - not available, but picked up a 21829 at local Sears today. Not set up yet, but looks like a good "clone". Many thanks for all the comments, suggestions. Happy to be a new member - oldowl! -
Looks like a good alternative considering the Ryobi
has been discontinued.
Pretty good price, also. I was shopping last December for the Ryobi when the
Craftsman appeared for $450 and at best went down to $399. Was
considering it, but the manual did not show the motor assembly to let me
know if it had the two (or three) bearings on the arbor shaft like the Ryobi.
Thought it was strange since virtually every page appeared to be a copy
of the Ryobi manual at the time with one exception-no motor assembly page.
Was debating what to get when the Ryobi went on sale for $199 along with
$50 rebate so went with the original.
Now, however, if I was in the market, probably would recommend the
Sears since it is by itself. Plus the stand looks neat and the router extras
And miter slot are included.....Have fun with it. Remember, the blade won't
be set to the miter slot but the sliding miter table. The miter slot is intended
for the router, I believe.Comment

My TS is the 21289. I think it's great, and I love the portability with the folding base. I am a newbie, but think I will be able to do great things with this saw! Good luck with yours, I'm sure you will love it. Nick P.Comment

Got the new 21829 set up today - fairly easy, and I do like the folding stand - seems stable enough when standing for use. Made a few practice cuts and other than a bit noisy the saw does well. As for the SMT and the miter slots - both were dead on to the saw blade out of the box. Don't know when or why one might want to use the miter on the RH side since you have a SMT, but non the less both slots were dead on to the blade.Comment
