Woodpecker router lifts on sale (with rebate code)

    http://www.woodpeck.com/liftshome.html

    Codes:

    . Quick Lift : QL10 ($10 off)
    . PRECISION ROUTER LIFT / UNILIFT / PLUNGE-LIFT : RL30 ($30 off)
. CAST ALUMINUM ROUTER MOUNTING PLATE : AI20 ($20 off)
. TLR PHENOLIC ROUTER MOUNTING PLATE : TRI10 ($10 off)
    . 8-PC RING SET : RS10 ($10 off)

A question for these lift owners...
What is the advantage of the PRECISION ROUTER LIFT over the PLUNGE-LIFT to justify the $130 ($270-$140) price difference.

    Thanks,
    /venkat

Not a WP lift owner, but ( hey, I at least did get the email on this sale!), the plunge units require you to use one of the supported plunge routers, and in fact, uses the plunge mechanism in said Router to do the lifting, so I'd guess it's cheaper to build. Something also to look at is can you do bit changes above the table, not sure you can on the plunge one....Which is probably why on this unit they advertise a
New Xtreme Xtenstion is ideal for changing router bits above the table.
    ....

I sort of scoff at their sale, but, their stuff is stellar in quality....

The Precision Lift is designed to provide all the lift and travel hardware, and works from both sides of the motor (the router itself only provides the motor, and does not have to be a plunge type). The Plunge Lift uses the frame of the plunge router for guides and support, and only "mechanizes" from one side of the router. Some have said that this does not provide for smooth travel up and down, or have had trouble with the springs in the router (and had to remove them). Personally, I use a Plunge Lift and a Makita M12V plunge router, and have had NO trouble with it at all. (I did invest in a chuck extension for easier bit changes.)

My guess is that was meant to be Hitachi M12V (point of clarification for those considering the set up).

Doh! I missed this one.... Do you think that emailing/ calling them might get them to still honor the coupon?

It doesn't hurt. The worse they can say is no -- and you're no worse off.
