    Makita 2012NB 12" Planer ~ $290

It's going for $314.95 right now. They also have a $25 giftcard for purchases of $199 or more through July 16 -- effectively making it $290.

This is THE best home shop/small commercial planer, IMHO. I've literally never met anybody who was unhappy they bought one. Somebody stole my 2012 and I've been moping around refusing to buy. I jumped on this with both feet. It was worth $400. Having all these discounts makes it the best deal in every way.

I recently purchased and returned the Ryobi 13" 1300 that was on clearance for $180 because I didn't have the room.

I've been eyeing this for a while so when I saw the price yesterday, I jumped too. It's sorta like dessert -- there's always room

The Makita 2012 is a legend around here for going 20 years before needing any repairs - and that's from construction guys. The guts of the 2012NB are the same. Only a few case considerations were changed.

I wonder if my old dust hood would fit?

This is two major Makita tools I've purchased in two months. Got the Mac2400 compressor last month. I have a circular saw too.

My tool box is turning blue.

I bought this planer yesterday as well. I've been shopping around for a benchtop planer for quite some time and actually almost bought the Delta 22-580 benchtop planer last week, when the amazon price was $363.00 but with no free shipping but held off because i remembered seeing that planer had free shipping before.. The other day, the price on the Makita planer was > $400.00 and I was thouroughly surprise yesterday when i saw the $317.00 price tag.. I have been holding $237.00 worth of gift certificates from coins that I cashed in at Coinstar and ecertificates accumulated on the Chase credit card I also signed up for the amazon prime free trial and was glad to see that this item was eligible for amazon prime free two day shipping.. I am so excited, suppose to get the order in on Thursday.

Shadow, you're in for a treat. This has the least snipe and overall the best SMOOTH feel of any planer I've ever used, even in school (and they had an old school HUGE planer). It does a good job and lasts forever. You can't ask more than that. I can't believe Amazon.com's prices. This sale has got to be costing them bigtime. It's on the good stuff, not just the leftovers.

For all that may have taken advantage of this planer deal, Amazon has put the blades on sale for the weekend at $19.99/pr, down from $27.50.

I'm glad I bought this planer when it was $314.00.. The planer and dust collection attachment was delivered two days ago but I have not had the chance to take it out of the box.. I did open the box to see if the reviews on the packaging of this planer is real or just a myth and it was real, I cannot believe the packaging on this planer all that was holding the planer inside the box is a piece of cardboard that was recessed in the middle to keep the planer in place.. I did not see a single styrofoam inside the box. Now I am almost nervouse to take it out of the box, i am hoping the planer did not get damaged during shipment. Keeping me fingers crossed when I take this planer out of it's box this weekend..

Are the replacement blades crazy easy to install like some of the other lunch box planners with disposable blades? Seems the Dewalt just click right into place with no need for set up jigs.
