    Good Buy

I've had this model for about 2 years now and have had no complaints. The price is as low as I have seen it in the last year. Overall, not bad for the price.

I bought the 21-gal compressor last mo, also with 20% coupon. I bought it to replace my 8-gal HF compressor. So far, I believe it is a much better compressor and more useful size than the 8-gal. I'm surprised how much longer it can puff before recycling. It's quieter than the smaller compressor, too. Comes with a 25' cord. It gripes me to do so, but I bought an extended warrenty for it. See below for reason.

Now for info on the 8-gal compressor #90385. This is the one that's available only on-line or catalog. A little more power and better specs than the 8-gal in HF retail stores. This is my third one (I returned it twice). One arrived broken; one wouldn't start; this one has failed, too. HF is refunding my $$.

      My opinion --
      1) don't buy heavy items from HF mail order, because they are too difficult to repack for return.
      2) #90385 doesn't get my seal of approval.
      3) in spite of somewhat lax QC, Harbor Freight has always demonstrated good customer service to me.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I plugged it in today and ran it for a few minutes. Left it on most of the day and it wasnt leaking air. When I purged the air from the top, there was some moisture in it (I realize this is normal). But when I opened the valve at the bottom, no water came out but a small amount of dry sandy substance came out - the equivalent of 3 or 4 drops of water. Is this normal?

Happy with the quality so far. One washer for the wheels was malformed, but I am not concerned. It seems to be very well built overall. The rubber feet are not going to last long - they already looked very compressed after a few minutes on the concrete. Any of you guys have probs with the feet on the compressor?

Would this be enough of a compressor to run a HVLP gun?

              noise level

Would any of the owners of this HF model know if it is any quieter than the typical "oil-less" models of similar size, such as those red ones with a Craftsman label?

I have a 20 gallon Craftsman in the basement, and when it starts up it's REALLY LOUD.
