    Router Bible

I know its not really a bargin in the true sense but wasnt sure were else to place this post.

I received my copy of Hylton's new "Woodworking with the Router" over the weekend and this is undoubtedly the defacto standard work on this most versatile of power tools. I had looked at the older BW version and although the content was good I was put off by the rather aged illustrations.

This new color version (with added and updated content) is absolutley awesome. Even if you have the older copy I would reccomend getting this book. All I have managed so far is to skim about 2/3rds but it deserves a word by word analysis.

I probably sound like his publisher but am just a unworthy woodworker and this is really gold!

For approx $18 on amazon right now instead of the published $29 I think this doubly qualifies as a BARGIN!!

I borrowed the old book from the library (along with a bunch of other recommendations from this forum). The b&w version was really good, but I held off for 3 months until this new one. Glad I waited.

I only just flipped through the pages, but it does look nice. Hardcover and color illustrations for under $20 is a no-brainer.

Not sure how much new content there is yet, but the color pics do help.

I agree. I have never seen the B/W version, but I got the new version about 2 weeks ago. I have been reading it every night since! I think my next book is going to be" Understanding Wood Finishing : How to Select and Apply the Right Finish" by Bob Flexnor. Published by Reader's Digest also.

So before I looked at Amazon.ca, I thought I would see how much the publisher, Readers Digest wanted. Holy #%^@
          They want $40 plus $8 S&H.
Amazon.ca is only $22. Not sure about the S&H

Next time, you might want to check buy.com for buying any books. They always beat Amazon by 10% for any book. They also do free shipping for 25+ $.

            http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...queryType=book

Shipping is normally way faster than Amazon too.

I wish I'd had that experience with Buy.com. I've tried them a couple of times and wish I hadn't both times. I realize that two times isn't a scientific sampling and I hope others don't have the same experience that I have.

I have a kid in high school who is supposed to read Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 over the summer. Just for fun, I checked Amazon and Buy.com a minute ago and my impression is that Amazon won again. Oh, well...
