Anyone know if the K3 Master System is much better than the R2 to justify the $70 cost difference?

Also, anyone use the PC dovetail jig with the Ryobi 3-base router? Any problems?

It depends on what you plan to use it for. Most people have said that the basic system lets them do just about everything they need. Although most also say that they eventually buy all the bells and whistles that are in the Master system.

The rocket can do everything the master system can, it just isn't as easy for "production" type work. I take my jig out of the master system base every once in a while to do large items. I do not use the dust collection port on the master system. Do any of you?

i use the dust collection everytime in the master system.

absolutely love it. i use the ridgid detail kit hose, which is about 10' of the smaller hose, so i can keep the vac well out of the way.

Does anyone know if the PC 4212 frequently drops to $109 or was that just last month. I'm trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on this at $129.

Ryobi 3 base, don't know, but I know on my Bosch 1617 I have a problem when using the PC adapter. I can't use more than 1/2" material for through DT. If the Ryobi takes PC bushing standard, you may not have the frustration I've had. I really do like the jig, don't get me wrong, but PC states you can do up to 1-1/8" thick material for the tail side (or is it the pins?). anyways there is no way on my router.

Whew, I made it through this thread by only getting the $40 Kreg Rocket!

I've been meaning to try pocket hole jig joinery (jiggery?), and comparing to Rockler's inflated price of $69, this looked like a steal!

I can not understand the problem. I have the Bosch 1617 and the PC 4212. Do you have the RA1100 adapter for using PC bushings?

Hey Rob R, wold you mind filling me in on the hose kit? It doesn't give dimensions on the multiple adapters on the website. Did you have to buy the 2.5" to 1.25" adapter separately or was that part of the kit?

The hose came with the 12 gal Ridgid wet dry vac awhile back (Part of a promotion). The end that goes into the vac is the standard 2 or 2 1/4". Can't recall. Regardless, the other end is 1" or 1 1/4" which fits real, real snug on my Dewalt Miter saw dust port and my plunge router dust chute. The hose itself is narrow and flexible and measures 10 feet so it's easy to keep out of the way. IMHO the hose is the thinnest walled hose I have ever used...definitely not heavy duty but you can't beat free

Sorry I don't have the specific sizes but to answer your general question, there are no adapters/reducers used in my setup.

EDIT: The kit did come with a 2" to 2" connestor which would allow you to connect the 10 footer to the 7 footer that came with the vac. (I personally hate this hose..way to "non-flexible " for me)

That hose is part of Ridgid's "car accessory kit" for their shopvacs. The whole kit was a freebie add-on to some of the vacs on sale - those with model numbers ending in "GV" if I remember correctly. It is a handy hose for hand-held power tools as it is quite flexible and quite long as Greg noted.

the hose i'm talking about came in the "detail kit" item number VT2524 it ran me about $20 it came with the small hose, adapter to hook it up to the crapsman, and a bunch of nozzles i never use.

i had to sand the kreg fitting a little bit to get it to fit--took about 2 seconds. this is the hose i use when using the shop vac for dust pick up from a handheld tool--handheld planer, kreg jig, ROS, biscut cutter, etc. you can't beat the length and flexibility of the hose as already stated.
