    Bostitch Framing Nailer

I was needing a framing nailer and this is one that I have been looking for as it does 1.5" to 3.5" nails. It came in a Bostitch Igloo cooler with an air hose. The price was marked $269 on the box but it rang up $199. Might be a little bargain, it was for me as I was prepared to pay $269 to have it now for a fence I'm putting up.

It is a full round head nailer too and comes with the tip for metal connectors to accurately place nails in those simpson strong tie type metal connectors.

Ooops, I got it at Home Depot it's the F21PL. Online it was still listed at $269.

The price is great. I have the Bostitch round head nailer and paid $249 for the unit alone. However, I can't say I'm thrill with it. I used it a few times and then stored it away in my basement for several months. The last time I tried to use it, it started to leak internally. I was told to send it out for repair but I would have to pay for the fix since it is out of warranty.

For my purpose, one-time use fixing the basement, I would have been better off getting a cheap nailer from Harbor Freight. They have the round head nailer for $19.99 on sale for Father's day (info from email). For $20, you can't really go wrong.

Edited: See below post for price correction. Sorry, I must had a senior moment.

What model is $19.99 for Father's Day? What is the time frame for the sale? Must be in an email I didn't get.

          Thanks,

I'm with foneman, where is the info on the $20 round head framing nailer ? Can't beat it for that price, even if it's only for one job.

Only problem will be a box of round head nails will cost more than the nailer.

Mistake in my previous post. I rechecked my email. The nailer is $59.99 today and tomorrow at the retail store only. Still not a bad deal for light-duty use. Sorry for the confusion.

I considered the Harbor Freight nailers too but as far as I could see they did not have one that shot 1 1/2" nails. The reason I like the Bostitch was that it shoots 1 1/2" to 3 1/2" nails and does the metal connectors so for me it was like 3 guns in one and rounds out my collection of nail guns.

Thanks for the tip James. I struck out at the first Home Depot this morning. I had to go out this evening, and took a chance at another store. They had one on the floor. The cooler had a couple of dents, one barely broke through the outer casing. I asked if they would discount it because of the damage. After waiting for the right manager and a few calls, they knocked 10% off the $199, $179.10 + tax. I couldn't believe it!

I'd stick with a name brand nailer, but thats me. HF is fine for some stuff, but mostly is nonstandard cheapy stuff with very little chance of getting repair parts.
