Can anyone provide their insight on this?

The price appears to be a bargain when compared to other dealers of the same model. But does anyone have thoughts on this unit itself and is it a bargain compared to other models, brands, etc.?

The bags would have to be replaced. 30 micron does not do a good job.
It's over $325 with shipping so I would say that is not a great deal.

    Much better deal :

    Penn State Industries
    $320 shipped
    2 HP 220V
    1500 CFM
    12" impeller
    Supposedly quite (65db sounds quite)
    1 micron bag
$40 worth of duct hose included (its good stuff)

It's well respected as a quality machine from what I know of it....on par with the Grizzly, Jet, and Delta, etc., and a clear step or two up from the HF. The 12" impeller should move alot of air, and AFAIK, it has a 6" inlet which is a plus. The 30 mic bags should be upgraded. Griz sells aftermarket bags that will fit for ~ $20.

      AI-Supply sells the 1-1/2hp version (W1685), with 1 mic bags for $278 plus s/h.

My only concern here would be that this unit comes with 30 micron bags (filtration size). I don't own a dust collector yet, but I've been shopping and have fairly well focused on the PennState Industry offerings which mostly tout 5 and 1 micron filtration. (www.pennstateind.com). The PennState DC2000B model w/1 micron bags seems to be a close match to the Ebay Shop Fox and it sells for $259 in the spring 06 catalog. You'd have to call them for freight charges (1-800-377-7297).

My concern for the higher filtration number of 30 microns would be that the really super fine dust that it won't catch is what you really need to keep out of your lungs.

Also, I presume you have noted that this is a 220 volt units (so is the DC2000B). If that's a problem, there are slightlly smaller120 volt units.

        I hope this helps,

Utter Guys is down the street from me. Not the nicest showroom but seem like decent folks.

As far as the DC, I opted for the JDS from Woodcraft for $299 because it looked just like all the others and came standard with 1 micron bag. Although, it didn't test well in the recent Wood Mag comparison.
