That's a spectacular price for an excellent blade. I use the LU83R010 for most purposes these days. The LU87 also appears to be a good rip blade, but I have not needed to rip large amounts of stock since I got it.

Those are both great prices and both excellent value choices for the BT and any saw under 3hp.

Thanks for the tip Aiko, just ordered the Freud LU83R010 10" 50 Tooth. I've been looking for a not-too-expensive extra blade for my BT3100.

          << Newbie alert!

          Amazon description says:

"Specially formulated micrograin carbide teeth slice quickly and easily through 3/4" to 2 3/4" inch thick hard and soft woods."

The BT of course can cut dimensional 4x4--does this imply that using this saw one would not be able to use the max capacity?

I don't think that is really implied, but does the saw have the power to turn the blade through that much wood. I have a rigid ts2400, and was using an infinity tools full kerf rip blade to rip some white oak? 4x4 that I got when the town installed new water mains. The saw grunted and cut, but required a good amount of pressure to push the wood thruogh. I wouldn't want to work it that hard alot, I think it would eventually burn the motor up. I ordered these blades to see if they work any better.

Freud recommends 3-5 teeth in contact with the wood for ripping applications. For 4" stock they'll recommend a very low tooth count blade. That doesn't necessarily mean other blades won't "cut it", but they're likely to burn and bog a bit, depending on the wood and setup.
