Precise Router Lift., October 26, 2005
Reviewer:J. Weiss (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
What it is: This is a JessEm Rout-R-Lift FX router lift, bolted to a much thickened phenolic Rousseau mounting plate. It appears to made of machined aluminum and/or alloy, possibly with some steel, most of which has a anodized finish. The tolerances are very tight and it operates very smoothly. This device fits in all Rousseau and the Bosch RA1200 router tables.

What it does: It allows for extreme precise height adjustment. Using a hex bolt atop simply turn to the right to raise or left to lower. It is that simple, no need to loosen something first or tighten after. One full turn equals 1/16" with numbers at 1/64" intervals and marks at every 1/512" in between. It lifts full up in around 30-40 turns for easy above the table bit changes.

Assembly: I was able to unlatch the quick-release cam lock level, drop in the router motor and latch with out adjusting anything right out of the box. A 7/16" bolt is used to tighten or loosen the tension if needed.

Was it worth it: The speed and accuracy of adjusting bit height is incredible. As is, removing and installing the router motor off the lift, which has no effect on previous setting. This allows for true one router motor for all bases. 5 stars.

A good router lift for the Rousseau system, February 4, 2005
Reviewer:James Bowen "tool_fool" (Gilbert, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This is essentially the Jess-Em system, mounted to a Rousseau base plate. The Rousseau system uses an odd sized baseplate (9" x 12") which is why I ordered this particular model. Fit and finish are excellent. Adjustments are very accurate- miles ahead of using your router's adjustment mechanism. A nice, solid handle fits into a hole in the base plate, and each complete rotation equals 1/16", so as you can imagine, your accuracy is only limited by you own eyesight. The only thing about this lift that I am not too crazy about is the dial that fits around the wrench opening. It can't be zeroed, which is really not a major concern, simply something extra to take into account. As mentioned previously, each rotation of the dial equals 1/16", the dial has major markings every quarter turn, equalling 1/64", and eight minor markings each quarter, for a precision of 1/512". These markers are spaced approximately every 1/8" around the circumference of the dial. I don't know about other woodworkers, but this level of accuracy is more than I will ever need.
Beyond the aspect of accuracy is the inherent convenience of all router lifts. Being able to change bits without dismounting the router is in itself, well worth the price of admission. If you have room in your budget for an item such as this, I would highly
    recommend it!

I got the lift and 2 of my 40" clammps today. The lift looks great and very well built.

Now I need to use some of my long weekend to get the wings and extension built for my tablesaw.

Thanks again for the heads up on the deal.

I have this lift and it is amazing.. Very stable and precise. It works very well with my PC 694VK router. I highly recommend.

          Use with Hitachi M12V?

Has anyone used this lift with a Hitachi M12V? I picked one of the M12Vs up recently and would like to use it in a table (yet to be designed). This lift sounds good if it would support mounting an M12V.

          Thanks!

this particular lift is designed for 3-1/2" diameter motor only, not the entire router.
            Isn't your M12V a big 3 HP unit?
If that is the case, look at this

            or this
            http://www.jessem.com/rout_r_lift.htm
or if rousseau has the same thing.

              Ken,

You can't. This lift is for the 2 1/4hp removable motors. The hitachi is a 3 hp plunger.

Rousseau does not make one to accomodate the Hitachi M12V

But probably will work with Hitachi M12VC, not M12V.
