Amazon prime membership (3 month trial)

I found this deal on slickdeals.net. Amazon is offering prime membership (3 months trial) again. Mine ends (4 months trial) this month. So I registered new email address.
After creating the account, goto Your Account. There is a link for managing prime membership.

Click on it and make sure they say "3 months trial". subscribe it.

For those interested, it automatically charges you at the end of the trial if you don't forget to cancel. Unless you want to pay for it.

Good point!. On the same note... After you subscribe to it, go back to "Manage your prime membership" again. After entering user id and password, you will get to a page where it details the membership. You will see "Do not upgrade"
button. Click on it. Amazon will not renew your membership after the trial ends.

So do both steps at the same time. This way you will not forget to cancel
      the membership...

Free 2 day shipping on all Amzon sold items. Not eligible if the seller is not Amazon.

$4 next day shipping on all Amazon sold items.

Been a Prime member since it started, but then I order a LOT from Amazon. For $79 a year it has saved me a TON in shipping costs!

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I can't believe Amazon made it that easy. If only I could regain the hours of my life spent cancelling credit cards and AOL!!!!

If you don't immediately get the free prime offer, try this.

                  Log in to amazon account.
                  Go to "Manage Subscriptions"
                  Confirm no Prime offer.

Point your browser to A9.com (Amazon's search engine)
                  Enter "Free Amazon Prime"

The first result should be an Amazon Prime signup page--and about 2/3 of folks at work got the free offer when they clicked on this link.

If not, it seems if you open a new account at Amazon with a different credit card it will give you the offer.

                  or

Find another member of your "household" who has Prime. Have them log on to their account and go to "manage subscriptions". They have 4 offers they can extend to other "household" members. This works even if you previously had the free trial and canceled.

I also noticed that Prime seems to bump you to the front of the line on ordering, esp. for sale items that are "out of stock, more coming!".

What were the items? UPS has size limits for Air, which do not apply to ground. Those items that can be shipped Air (Next Day, 2nd Day, Next Day Early Air, etc) will have surcharges in excess of $50 or $90 depending upon service. Amazon just shipped my PC SCMS ground, as it would have cost them over $100 to 2nd day a $266 item. I can not blame them for doing that. Of course I got it the next day as I am 10 miles from the warehouse! The thing that helps me in that case is that the order rises to the top of the pile. Sometimes I could wait 3-4 biz days for an item to ship.
Still wouldn't pay $70 for this service, though thanks to this forum I have weekly packages from Amazon.

Yeah, I just signed up for the free 3 month prime membership. Then used it to ship a router lift over night and it was here the next day, as promised. I usually go for the shipping via mule-train or whatever is free. I try to stay frugal with my "hobby". It felt so decadent to have it shipped over night I almost felt guilty, the guilt quickly passed.

I don't plan on keeping prime, I really don't order enough stuff to justify it. But for $3.99 extra, overnight shipping was nice..

                              Jeff,

i couldn't agree more with your reasoning about the heavy items. but one item was an ipod nano--weighs like 2 ounces, and the second order was for a case for it, weighing about twice that. so i think they were duping me.

all along my where's my stuff page from amazon had the expected delivery date at 2 days, all the while the ups page had it at 3--aka: normal ground shipping across the country. ARRRGGGGHH.

i will use prime to not have to wait the 4 days for the item to ship, but after the trial, back to 2 weeks and you get your stuff ahla super saver i suppose.
