    Dell (not really WW related)

I just bought one for myself, so I figure - someone else might find it a good deal...

If you go to Dell's Small Business page and use the e-value code 65007 - s50501c, you can get a pretty nice PC for $450 (the code gives you $440 off!). The base system is a P4-2.8Ghz, with 1GB RAM and 80GB HD, and comes with a 19" LCD monitor. Yes, I'm sure you can get a better PC, but I thought that was a really good price for casual use. I tried pricing similar PCs on Dell without that e-value code, and on HP/Compaq, etc, and they all came out being about $700-900.

It doesn't indicate anywhere on the page, but based on my email order acknowledgement, the exipration date for that e-value code is 2006-05-25 11:30:00 (I think that's Central Time). And there's free shipping.

(oh, in case you haven't bought from Dell Small Business before, you can just use your name as the business name).

I guess you could deem it ww-related - it'll handle Sketchup really well!

Good point. Always compare and contrast prices/features on Dells Home Site versus Small Biz site. Small Biz usually has some great pre-pack deals. Using the Small Biz site I have purchased (4) 20.1 LCD monitors for less than $300 each. In my opinion there is no one that can come close to Dell in price/performance.

I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop with dual core processor a few weeks ago and I could not believe how low the price was after discounts. I've slept since but there is a page on the Dell site that listed offers that were not entirely obvious. I think it might be http://www.dell.com/content/topics/p...=19&l=en&s=dhs

After Googling and searching the internet on the deal sites and getting the best deals from the Dell page, I called the special number offered by my old company. (As a retiree of a big Dell customer, I am "eligible for the best price".) The Dell rep could not even match the deal I patched together from the above info. They are competing against themselves?
Anyway, I think Dell is the best deal out there right now. I could be wrong.

I have done a LOT of Dell shopping, both personally and for biz.

I set up a replacement program for an insurance company where they would replace individuals computers that were damaged/stolen. We found that if you were buying a highly specialized computer that discounts such as corporate discounts passed to employees or educator discounts were ok, but if you are buying an "average" PC you just can;t beat their web specials on Personal and Small Biz sites.

          Dell pricing authority

I agree that Dell machines are the value leaders by far. If you are serious about buying a computer, I would keep my eye on this site http://www.gotapex.com/ because they always have a summary of Dell deals and I have found they are usually the best source for discounts.

That's one of the first places I looked - but their current/recent deals have been better/pricier PCs than I needed. That site and www.techbargains.com are great places to go for (generally) computer related stuff.

Ocassionally, you see a Dewalt drill or something else pop up when it's a good deal

NON-government employees can't afford equipment that expensive! LOL!

Great buy. I have been using an Inspiron 5100 for three years and until recently have had ZERO problems. Battery croaked....sure is expensive to replace!!!! So for awhile, it's AC only! New battery purchase will prevent other TOOL purchases. Decisions, decisions........

That is a killer set up. The NVIDIA running that WUXGA is going to sweet.

Don't you freaking HATE paying sales tax?!?!!? Dell decides to set up a stupid kiosk in King of Prussia mall and now all of PA pays sales tax. They don't even sell the stuff in the Kiosk, they let you order it online to be delivered to you.
