Good deal? I need a better sander, my 1/4 sheet B&D won't do it!

My only negative would be that it takes adhesive pads instead of H&L. There are H&L retro fits, but that would take away from the sale price benefit. But then, you may prefer adhesive pads.

That may be a fair but not super price considering what else is available. For instance you can get a new Ryobi ROS for less than that at Home Depot or a reconditioned name brand for the same money at a place like Tool King [though you need to pay $7.99 shipping]. The reconditioned tools I have purchased always looked and worked like new and had a full warranty. They basically are customer returns in the 30 day trial/exchange periond that are sent back to the factory to be inspected a second time and repaired if necessary and then sold at up to a 30 percent discount. --- Steve

I read the "Specs Tab" and it says H&L pad included.

From that angle, it looks a lot like the Ryobi single-speed ROS that normally sells for around $40! The Ryobi would give you a 2-year warranty, while the Craftsman is only 1 year. I don't see any mention of a case and it does say that it's a single speed. (Ryobi doesn't have a case either.)

I can see why they are discontinueling it, $70 is a lot of money for a single speed. The Ridgid VS ROS sells for $70, comes with two pads (not a stick-on conversion like the Craftsman and Ryobi), a good quality case, lighted plug with 12' cord and wrap, and a lifetime service agreement. (A much better deal IMHO.)

But, if you're only looking to spend $40, the Ryobi single speed would still be a better deal I think, because of the warranty. Their VS sells for $50.
