    Craftsman 27719 Jig Saw

Does anyone know if this is a Bosch 1587AVSK clone - looks like it?

They had them at my Sears for $80 on clearance.

    So I've heard

I read somewhere on the web that it was. While I can't recall where (probably just popped up when I googled the model number), I do recall that I wasn't convinced of the reliability of the report. So buyer beware.

That said, I was looking at it a couple of months ago thinking that if it ever went on clearance for half price, it would be a good deal. $80 is just about there.

      Google results

This link claims that the Craftsman is made by Bosch:

If you can get a close look at the model number, you can get a clue from that. You need to know the three digit prefix (which doesn't usually show on the Sears website or ads) that identifies the manufacturer. According to this website 130.xxxxx indicates Bosch manufacturing. That site and this one indicates 135.xxxxx as either Bosch or Skil.

It has to be. It is dead on ringer. I have used the heck out of my 1587 and when I picked up the one at Sears everything was in the right place. Also the fact that Bosch will discontinue the 1587 shortly (according to marginally reliable sources) leads me to believe they stopped making the Craftsman replica.

            Now under $50

Currently $48 and change with one left at the Rice St. Sears in St. Paul. I really hate seeing great deals when I don't need the tool. If only they had the jointer instead of the jig saw...

I just came back from Sears, they had it $62 so I picked one up, I was planning on buying the Bosch but at this price I figured I'll buy it now and decide what to do with it later.

Any opinions, is this a keeper or should I hold out for the Bosch?

Me too! That's why I bought the one I found today for $43.97 plus tax = $46.61. I am offering it for sale to first BT3 member for cost, plus $1 (cover PayPal fees) and actual shipping via USPS. First come, first serve!

They have them for $40 now at my Sears. I have a 3-yr old Bosch 1687 - like it so much I may pick one up.

                        Many thanks to newbie2wood

I called the Sears Essentials that you gave me the number, they had the jigsaw for $21.97, I then called the Sears store where I just paid $62.97 and they told me that they do not price match closeout items. I then called the Sears Essentials near me and the price was $21.97 too, so I took my receipt there and they refunded me the difference.

So now I have $40 to go towards my next tool purchase (the LOML doesn't need to find out about this).

I second the thanks to Newbie. Picked up the last one (off the display) from a Sears near me. Since it was the last one - came without a case or manual but with full warranty. I checked the Sears web site for manual - you cannot download the manual but you can order it as a part for $2 via snail mail. I downloaded instead the manual for Bosch 1587 - fits dead on and works well. I am sure I will not miss the case.
