Sorry, I wasn't sure if an update or a new thread would be more appropriate. Please be constructive with your criticism so that I may know what the proper thing is to do next time. Thanks.

Dave, I didn't catch that. There was a discussion on slickdeals last night about the same bit kit, which is why I thought we were talking about it here.

I've got this set as well. Bits seem to cut okay, but the bearings aren't worth squat. Unless you need some junk bits or don't care about the bearings, you'd be better off passing.

BTW: I had one bearing to just fall apart and one to go MIA during use. Maybe I did something wrong, but other than being able to tighten the screw, I didn't see much other maintenance I could do.

Skip it. I have a set from Costco for $40 with 20 bits and this set. Costco bits are better. If your router supports 1/2" shank - go for set with 1/2" from Holbren, MLCS, B&B.

Holbren has some good sets at decent prices. If you're limited to 1/4" shanks, they've got this set: http://www.holbren.com/product.php?p...&cat=27&page=1 Otherwise they've got some other sets. They also sell bits individually.

HD has 8pc set for the same money.
You can get 8pc of your choice at woodcraft for the same money. I think 1/2 shanks.

FWIW, this set was thrown in free with an entry level router table I had purchased from them a few years ago....didn't know any better then.

I would pass. You could get a much larger set with 1/2 shanks for another $15 when Blades n Bits runs their "damaged" case promo. It gets good reviews.

    Thoughts??
Two straight bis, one dovetail bit, the cheapest profiles around.
    also, 1/4" shanks.
$40 is too much, only a fair buy at $20 sale price unless you have a 1/4" shank only router.
