GMC Jig saw (Variable speed) for $11.99

Lowes (local) had several of them in the clearance area. They were marked down from $18.88. I bought one along with Bosch 1617 with 20% discount. It came to $9.60. It did cut plywood well. Not bad for $9...

Is this the scrolling model? If it is, I tried this saw, and think it is definately worth that price. Liked it quite a bit, but had two problems with mine that I could not overcome. 1- had a hard time getting the footplate tight enough not to move. 2- at certain speeds and orbits, the tooless blade release kept dropping the blade. Other than that, I was impressed with it's power, lack of vibration, and cutting performance. Would have kept it if it were not for the few reasons I mentioned, considering I only had about $35 into it. But like others, splurged and got a Bosch. All things considered, it is worth looking at. If you can find one that does not have the issues I mentioned, they seem like pretty good performers for the $. Just my 0.02.
