OK, here's a really dumb question. I keep reading how people use each retailer's coupons at other retailers. If I print this thing and take it over to the local HD, can I use it to get 20% off any item there? Specifically, I'd use it to get the Ryobi AP1300 planer for $159 before tax, down from the currently marked $199 price, reduced from whatever the original retail price was. Is that how it works?

jackellis - it really depends on which HD you go to. some accept them and some don't. luckily my local HD did accept it, maybe because there was a HF retail store near by. it seems like a lot of them don't accept them so don't get your hopes up too high.

More specifically, it depends on which assistant manager you talk to. I have canvassed all the stores in my area, and in about half of them, there is at least one ASM who will OK the coupon, although there are those who used to, and now don't. Call first, be friendly, tell them you'd rather spend your money with them instead of HF, and cross your fingers. You'll have better luck if your item is regular-priced, although sometimes a sale price will also be discounted, particularly if the sale is being underwritten by the manufacturer.
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!

I have found HDs close to HF stores willing to accept it, while others insist they've not heard of HF and so can't honor it...

I've tried at both HD and Lowes, and so far, no good. Both the HD and the Lowes that I tried at are within 5 miles of HF. The HD flat out said that the only competitor coupons that they accept are Lowes. The Lowes didn't know that HF existed, and were trying unsuccessfully to look it up in the phone book (the HF is relatievely new). It is worth a try, just be nice to the employees that you speak to.

I emailed a link to the 20% coupon and a picture of the 6" router to my brother in Springfield MO.
I would like to have the Ridgid but when the HF is on sale for $199 less 20%, it is hard to pass up.
He's going to go by there after while and see if they have one. I sent him after the 7" last week and they didn't stock.
              Thanks for the coupon link

                HF coupons

I've been very successfull using the HF 20% off coupons. I got the ryobi planner, ridgid msuv and ridgid mobile base all at 20 % off. I always go to the service desk and ask if they will accept and usually 10 or 15 minutes later they say they will. If not I just don't buy it. This way you don't haul the item up to the cash register only to be turned down. We do have a HF which they sometimes call to verify.

Just a dumb question: Can you use the coupon online?
Measure once...cut a whole bunch of times!

I'm with the govt, we're here to help.

Nope, the coupons don't work online, only in the stores.

Thanks for letting me know about the coupon. My brother picked a HF 6" jointer up for me, and is bringing to me tonight.
If I don't like it I can blame you all, right????

Anything I need to know, about putting it together??
Other than keeping my fingers out of it.
