    Delta Shopmaster clearance

The local Lowes is getting rid of all there Delta Shopmaster products to make room for Shopmaster products with cooler new boxes (what a sell feature).

Anyway, everything is 20% or more off. I found a 1/4hp, 10" benchtop dp that appeared to be missing the chuck. I walked out with it for $50 and then found the chuck hiding in the belt compartment when I got home. Its like Christmas.

Is this a national clearance sale or local to your area?

I saw this in a Toledo Lowes a couple weeks ago

They had the belt/disc combo sander and the DP NIB at $50 each. I have a DP, and I resisted the urge to buy the sander. I left the last one for another lucky soul. It was my good deed for the week : )

Looks like I'll be stopping by Lowes tomorrow. I have a feeling though I won't be as lucky. Seems like the west coast stores are always a few weeks behind with the special sales.

could anyone that has capitalized on this sale post their receipts, so the rest of us might have some leverage when we go to the store?

I was in Lowes last night and there were no Delta Shopmaster items on Clearance, so looks to be a local deal, or at least not in my area. .

wassaw998 I have to agree! I pressed the sales clerk to check with a manager and they hadn't heard of any such directive. Although, they conceded that it wouldn't surprise them if they were to get a directive in the future. Bottom line, they weren't motivated to mark them down on their own.

The tool guy told me all of the new Shopmaster products had redesigned logo's, boxes, etc... and all of the Lowes stores were getting the new products in. If your store still has the old style packaging on the shelves, I'm sure they'll be getting rid of them soon. I will try and get a copy of my receipt up as soon as I can get to a scanner.

                      Saw the new Shopmaster Branding

Stopped by the local Lowes store and they don't have the Shopmaster stuff on clearance in Chicago yet and the tool dept guy had not heard anything about it. He did say that if other stores were putting stuff on clearance that it would probably hit them soon too. However, here is the interesting part, they had a lot of the new Shopmaster logo stuff there already mixed in with the old. I don't like the new look at all.

After seeing the new logo, the obvious conclusion is that Delta is making a much more obvious image difference between the two brands with the logo change. The new logo says Shopmaster in large letters in kind of a cheesey steel color with a little tiny "Delta" name hidden in the upper right corner. There will be no confusing the two any more - the Shopmaster brand will very clearly look like and be the "economy" brand. Sitting here, I suppose I should have taken a picture but I didn't - sorry guys. Guess you'll all see it soon enough.

Of course if it was just the box - who would care, but it's not. It's the tool too - a big ugly Shopmaster sticker. One would barely notice it's a Delta at all. I guess Delta must be tired of the main brand being cheapened down by all the shopmaster stuff. Nevertheless, no deals in Chicago yet.

                        Depends on what "clearance" means....

I teach at two different college campuses, each of which is within a five-minute drive of a Lowe's store. At the Sanford, NC store, I found the DP at the clearance table. I strolled over and asked the stone age artifact that serves as the tool crib manager whether the DP was on clearance. He affirmed. I asked if it was 50% off. He looked at me like I was crazy. "NO...It's 10% off....it's just the display model...it's brand new." Of course, he couldn't find the chuck key and I couldn't get the table to raise or lower properly, so I guess my definition of brand-new is different from his.

Anyway, that's typically been my experience in small-town Lowe's stores in NC. No real competition, and no deals to be made. I'll try some bigger locales and try my luck.

I've tried 3 lowes stores in the greater los angeles area and none of them had the shopmaster stuff on sale so I don't think it's only isolated to "small town" locations.

Heck, I'm still waiting for the Hitachi drill press to drop below $200 here in Pittsburgh. Let alone the Shopmaster stuff!

They have 4 of the DP in stock so I imagine that's why no reduction in price yet.

Did you try taking a copy of the reciept that was posted on here for the DP?
