"This week" -- which apparently means thru 03/26/06 -- amazon.com is matching a number of manufacturer rebates on selected tools:

You'll see nothing but big-ticket Delta stuff near the top of the list but as you scroll down, some less-costly items from other mfrs will come into play. The list is alphabetical, by brand.

EDIT: I just tried a mock order, and it appears that the 10% instant discount that runs thru 3/20/06 cannot be applied to items on which amazon.com is matching a rebate. You might want to try it to be sure, however.

Sometimes Amazon is so lame. Where is there any detail on the rebates??? I looked at the DeWalt BJ and I see no rebate form and zero info on how you get the Amazon rebate match. How do you get the match?

I thought PC had a $30.00 rebate on the 557 plate joiner but Amazon isn't mentioning it today so therefore no matching $30.00 from them? Weird.

As far as the PC 557 that is because it is currently not for sale via Amazon.com. Keep checking as that may change soon. I just got mine from the $159 price they had briefly and need to send in for the $30 rebate. I was pleasantly surprised as I got one made in the USA. The ones I see in the stores now such as Lowes are made in Mexico. Probably no difference at all but I still like to own made in USA tools. --- Steve

That made in Mexico is b/c B&D owns DeWalt, Delta/PC and along with closings of US plants,B&D policy,(teck told me) on all portable corded tools will be not made here.
I think that I have mixed views on that issue, maybe the jobs there might reduce the illegal alien problems IF they pay them a good wage. I am glad that I have my PC tools that were made here, including the 557 which I had some minor flaws that I corrected and I think was a best buy ,thanks to the members here I bought years ago at Lowes after rebate,PM was $125. However, I do not like the plastic hinge pivot plates that have been OK so far.

The pivot is plastic,black on my type 3 or 4. It may look like metal but it is not.

Woodcraft had the Performax 16/32 at the WW show last week for $609. I was twitching but couldn't part with the cash. Then I dropped more than that at Jointech, what was I thinking.

With the rebates the DeWalt plate joiner is only $113 from what I remember, a good deal. It's not as good as the PC for small work but the price is good.
