Any comments on this one as compared to the HF 2HP model?

I've been looking at the HF for a while, but going name brand for less is appealing. Is it worth the drop in CFM and HP?

I had a 1 hp DC, but it wasn't a Jet. For one tool connected directly to the DC, it was o.k., no more. The additional 1 hp and almost 3 times 'rated' CFM of a 2 hp like the HF makes a world of difference.

I have the Grizzly 1.0 hp unit, and like Ken said, it is ok for one machine-no more. I have mine hooked directly to my BT, and it does all right. JMO

            650 CFM is pretty low.

I have an even smaller unit from Jet - JSL-610DC. It is solidly built and works well with a single machine - even with BT with 2-point dust collection (shark+tail pipe). Notice that my unit is rated 3/4HP and 610CFM, the one you describe is 1HP but rated just marginally higher in CFM. I want to caution on trusting rated numbers. I have seen other manufacturers to post different CFM for units with the same 1HP output. For example GMC claims higher CFM than Jet. I strongly suspect that Jet is at least as good as GMC but is just more conservative in posting numbers. Comparing HF and this unit is apples to oranges. This unit is designed to be rolled around with flexible hook up to one machine at a time. HF most people turn into stationary hooked up to many machines with blast gates - don't try the same with 1HP unit no matter from whom.

I am very pleased with the HF set up I have. I am putting photos online shortly, as I want to show the 1 micron bag that I had custom made by Process Systems. I imagine the Jet will need bag upgrade. Current price of HF DC - 20% is going to be less than 1 hp Jet price.
I am typically skeptical of HF items, particularly anything that is plugged in. Having said that I really, really like this unit. It is very heavy and well made. Manual stinks, their Chinese to English dictionary must have been missing a few pages.

                  Good Advice

Sounds like good advice. I'll keep my eyes on the HF unit.

There aren't any active 20% off deals at HF right now are there?

I have the canister version of the 650, and I honestly have no problems with it. I have 4" hose dropped to the floor for my tools, and connect the DC via flex hose. Other than using electronic blast gates, I don't see how a perm setup would be any more efficient for changing tools. My longest run is about 15'. I use the clear flex hose, which is cool stuff because under draw it'll collapse and make a shortest path.
