This is my first post so I will apologize in advance. First, thanks for all the information - I have saved or spent, depending on whether you ask me or my wife, a lot of money since I found this site. Now I hope you can benefit from this information.
Dollar General Store has changed their method of receiving merchandise (large buggies with wheels) and are eliminating the need for those 8 foot long by 15 inch wide aluminum tracks that have an axle every three inches with two inch aluminum wheels.
There are about 20 of these stores within 15 miles of my house and I visited most of them today. One store sold about 12 straight tracks and 4 curved tracks for $100. I did not get quite that good of a deal but I bought 8 for a good price. One store sold theirs for $40 per 8 foot section to a Little Debbie Bakery. Most stores said they would have to ask the District Manager and at one store the lady called him while I was there and he suggested to sell each one for $30.
What I am trying to say is that the price may range from free to $40 plus. However, I was told that the stores paid $80 or $90 each for them. If you find them, the price may depend on your bargaining ability and whether the local manager can act independently or not.
Good luck. I intend to cut one in the middle and have an 4 ft. infeed and outfeed table for various tools in the shop, like the BT3, the planer, the jointer, etc. The 8 ft. long ones will be handy when I can roll the tools outside this spring. By the way, there are two hooks on one end so that it will be easy to attach to each station and I intend to make an adjustable stand/legs for the other. There are all kinds of possibilities.
Sorry if I rambled on too long.
