Those two plate sizes are pretty much the standards among lift units. If your steel or aluminum router table is not one of these sizes, you're pretty much screwed. On the PlungeLift, there are spring-loaded ball bearings on 2 of the edges to reduce slop, but it won't help if your table opening is more than a skootch oversized. And you don't want to try to machine the plate to a smaller size, as there are set screws around the perimeter to level the plate, and you don't want to lose any of those.

Thanks for the reply, I'll look into it during this weekend. Actually the table I have is still in the box.Originally posted by Jeffrey SchronceYou are going to have to measure your current router plate. The dimensions of the lift are, as quoted from the website, "The QL-350A is available in two plate sizes 9¼ x 11¾ and 8¼ x 11¾. ". If either of these fit great. If they don't fit and are too small then you are out of luck. If they don't fit and are too large then you could route your laminate top to fit. I can't find the specs on the Bosch Laminate table or its sister sold by Sears, however looking at the photo it appears that the router plate maybe smaller which is great.

so i'm waiting.
Originally posted by ironhatTheir plates are also on sale - both the plastic and the aluminum insert types - $34 and $49, respectively as memory serves. As usual my choice of a DeWalt 618 haunts me with few choices in all of these respects except the more expensive plate. I'm thinking that a sneak-purchase of a PC 690, or some such, would be wise!!

thanks for the help guys. i guess i was reading too much into this post from ironhat. while the lifts are sweet, i think i'll suffer through with one of the plates for the time being. so i'll wait a bit and see if one comes over on the eclub.
