Rockler Cam Clamps

Small bargain, but these things are a great replacement for knobs on jigs/fences etc. I've found Rockler usually has the best deal on these even at their regular price (note that you get 2 per package...many retailers charge $5.00+ for one).

They also have a tail vise for what looks like a good deal if anyone is building or upgrading their bench. I'm suspicious of the description though...it implies a max opening of 16" minus wooden jaws, but it looks a lot like this one at Lee Valley that states 8"

Nice call Mike, would either of these sizes work on the bt3 rip/mitre-fences?

quick check over on jeffs tnut site confirmed that one. i guess the 5/16's are a tad stronger.

How many cam clamps do you get? The site describes it as $3.39 per "pack".

heh,, i almost went for a dozen. heck maybe i should at $2 a piece.

I use the Hartville Tool version of these to secure the fixed base on my PC 693 router amonst other things. Works great for that. Anyone here happen to already have these? I'd be interested to know how long they are. The ones I have are 3" long and that length allows plenty of leverage to make opening and closing them a snap.

I think most of mine are the 5/16" -- I use them with the Rockler t-track hardware.

I only have a few photos of them in action, but I use them anywhere that I might otherwise use a knob, but don't need to fully remove the knob each time.

You can see the cam clamp handles on the opposite side of the rests (these must be 1/4"):




This planing stop is no longer on the bench now that I've drilled my bench dogs. The cam clamps have since been "repurposed":

I ordered 5 pairs of those clamps, they arrived today.

Three 1/4-20 pair and two pair of 5/16-18, that should hold me for a while.

I finally remembered to measure mine a couple nights ago...Though I've forgotten the exact numbers! I think they were a bit over 3" total and 2 7/8" from center of the hole to tip of lever.

i used mine to hold my mini-lathe to my ridgid MSUV stand, worked great for bringing it to the meeting last night.

Yep. Its a vertical router alright. Morticing too I suppose depending on how its setup.
Its a computer numeric controlled router. Its the ultimate router jig.
