    I think you can use it with the support in place but its easier if you remove it. I removed mine.

      Thanks to everyone who posted on this subject. I found 3 at sale price, put one on my Ridgid bandsaw in about 2 hours. Today I installed on my BT3100 and really found these posts helpful.

      So far I have a gray one and a black one.... Now I wonder what color that last one will be.

      It really is an amazingly engineered lift and I think it would still be for sale ($14.97 close out at HD) if Ridgid could sell this through other stores. (even if I did some swearing while assembling....)
