    Hitachi planer

OK, I got the BS and DP on sale. Does anyone think that this planer might drop in price also?

Heck, it even comes with a stand too. Good luck comes in three's. Thanks.

I saw that Lowes has this on sale which maybe a prelude to a clearance. I was excited until I saw a review. The biggest problem was no DC and the knives were difficult to change. But for the right price I could overlook that.
    Thanks again,
    Mike

Me too. My question is: Do I wait for the clearance or buy a Ryobi? If I could get the same deal on the other thread then I'd go with the Ryobi. As for easy blade changes I was looking hard at the Delta 2 speed planer. Wish I had more money. lol

Common sense would dictate that it should go on sale.
But... that doesn't always seem to be the case.
I do know that the Bosch router tables are no longer on thier current planograms. They sould be on clearence in a few days.

My local Lowes was selling the Hitachi planer for $329. They sold the last boxed one and then took the display model off the shelf and put it in a shopping cart and it is not for sale. I get the impression that Hitachi is not going to be around Lowes very long. Lowes has stopped carrying the drill press and the band saw. Also, my local Lowes put out 2 new Delta floorstanding band saws yesterday. The Hitachi BS is gone.

The 2 Hitachi table saws on display at Lowes are always in disrepair with all kinds of stuff (other inventory/employees coats/returned merchandise...etc) stacked on them. I guess the Hitachi stuff never really caught on around here. DeWalt is the big selling brand I think.

Was picking my DP last night, saw one on the shelf, the price tag said "New Lower Price" $329.

In the latest edition of Workbench (April 2006) they have a review of 13" planers. The Hitachi P13F was the worst of the bunch. They said:

"This one is disappointing. Can't offer any arguments for choosing this planer."

Just FYI, the Dewalt DW735 when equipped with the optional extension tables was their editor's choice and the Rigid TP1300LS was their top value.

Also, I'll comment on the Ryobi. I bought one from HD and took it back because of excess snipe. Could have been me as some boards had no snipe at all and others were pretty bad. I adjusted the tables with little to no effect. I got the Rigid and it works great with minimal snipe.

I also have the Rigid and I am very pleased with it. I am very impressed with how smooth the finish is and there is little to no snipe, and when there is snipe it is generally do to my own error. I would defiantly recommend the Rigid.

I have never heard a member reply that he had one and Lowes has carried it for about 3 years. I'm guessing it is not a hot seller. The Dewalt sitting beside it for the same price is not much help, I bet.
