    Amazon (recent) bargains' fixups...

    Folks,

Its now clear that they finally figured waassup ;-)

But in the aftermath, they ended up cancelling the discount on unshiped portions of otherwise valid orders ;-(

I had ordered the PSI lathe as part of the: Get $80 off when you buy $420+ worth of qualifying things... (that included a Palmgren Jointer etc...). It appears in all that comotion, they 'cancelled' all 'unshipped' PSI lathes in all orders that had the promos applied - they are not-in-stock items, you see... So it was a lot easier for them to cancel all pending PSI lathe orders - no matter what... and in the process even my valid order got cancelled...

So, guess what, I called 'em up... and showed them that my whole order was valid, and they applied a partial (of $80) already to a shipped item... and wondered why is it that they were cancelling the rest of my order... I pointed to them that they were not holding their end of their bargain... They agreed, I placed a new order just for it, and they gave me the remainder of the rebate that was due me... and a $10 gift cert to boot, for all the inconvenience ;!)

Pays to prove your point. Thought folks in a similar boat may want to know... Very reasonable outcome I thought... Credit does go to not-often-appreciated Amazon customer-service/admin folks :-)

I also bought the PSI lathe but I only took the $20 discount. I just checked and as of now my order is still showing as OK and waiting for shipment. It might be that since I only took the valid discount that they are allowing the order to go thru, I hope so because the price from PSI is $169 + over $30 shipping. From Amazon the lathe was $149 ($20 discount) and free shipping. I think that's a pretty good deal.
