    Porter Cable 557 Plate Joiner

Any one see any reason why the $30 Lowes Rebate and the $30 Porter Cable rebate can not be executed on the purchase of this item? Net cost $140? I have printed and read both and they do not seem to have any language stating no combo, other than PC saying it can not be combined with another PC offer, which the Lowes offer is not.
    Thoughts?

    worth a shot...

Lowes wants a copy of the receipt and PC wants the original. PC might have an out with their "cannot be combined with any other offer" in bold type. If I didn't already own it, I'd give it a try.

      Jeffrey...

Looks like you found a great deal! The Lowe's rebate form doesn't ask for the UPC code (and gets sent to Detroit), while the P-C rebate asks for the UPC code (and gets sent to ACB in Memphis). As perpetualapprentice indicated above, if I didn't already own this, I'd jump on it...

That's the same type of deal that I got about a year or so ago. I ended up with the 557 for about $120 by getting a price match and using two rebates, the lowes one and the pc one. Try it!!!

I have had success redeeming both a manufactures rebate and a store rebate, although it was not at Lowes.

Alternatively, if you were to take advantage of the $80 Amazon offer going on right now, you could get the joiner for $118 plus they also have a link to the Porter Cable $30 rebate. Conceivably you could get everything for $88. I actually just ordered this myself. I'm crossing my fingers that this works out.

Thanks, Zbart. I think I'll try this as well. I've never done a rebate on an Amazon purchase. What do you use for the receipt when applying for the rebates? The packing slip?

Kendall, just log into your amazon.com account, look up the order, and you'll see a tab that says "Need to print an invoice?" (or words to that effect).

Larry has it right. If you click on the Mail-in Rebate Link from the Joiner page, there is a link on the next page to get more info about mail in rebates. It takes you through the process.

Man, i was glad getting this jointer for 146 net (thanks larry) with 20 bucks worth of biscuits i guess you could say i got it for 126, and gloat or not it was waiting for me when i got home!!!

196 was amazons price, minus the 20 off 120 deal, minus 30 dollar mail in rebate, plus 1000 free biscuits (claimed 20 dollar value) = 126

                  Good deal or not??

I would use the packingslip/receipt which will be inside the box. When I got mine from Amazon yesterday the receipt was in the box. Note the PC rebate asks for "Original" receipt, not a copy. The original receipt in the box is noticeably different ie it has sticker section etc that does not look like and inkjet or laser printer print off. I think technically PC could question a printed receipt, but I doubt they would. Regardless, I made a copy for myself and sent the original with form and UPC.

What $30.00 Lowes rebate? I can't seem to find anything about it on their site. Where would one get this rebate?

                        Hi Mac,

Here's the link to the Lowes rebate on PC557: http://www.lowespromos.com/DisplayPDF.asp?pl=PDFs/677-1.pdfπ=677

You can find their rebates on the site under "Customer Care" at the bottom of their home page. Then "Current Rebates", Get Offer Form, then put in a date, select Porter Cable as a manufacturer, and Tools as the category. Hope this helps!

I got the PC joiner from Amazon instead of Lowes. That is how I stumbled across the $80 off code.
I used it over the weekend and this biscuit joiner RULES!
First time ever using one, I made a very sleek, slender table. Where they called for Mortise and Tenon I used bisuits. Man those things are awesome and strong. Beginners note that you only have a few minutes before the biscuit sucks all the water out of the glue and swells making insertion into the joint difficult. The learning curve is nothing on this machine. Open the box, read the manual (the adjustment portion anyway) and you're good to go.

Where do you get the porter cable rebate form? I want to go to lowes and get one of these this week.
