Hitachi M12V Now $129 at Amazon with Free Shipping

Sorry if this has been posted recently but did't want anyone to miss it.

Hitachi M12V 3-1/4 HP Electronic Variable Speed 1/2" Plunge Router is now $129.99 at Amazon with Free Shipping.

The current price of the router is $149.99 To get the $129.99 price be sure to enter SAVON120 as the promotional code. A heck of a deal which I am going to make use of.

Edit 2/10/2006: Fixed typo in promo code, thanks for pointing it out wouldchuck.

Thanks for the heads-up, I think... That router has been on my wish list for ages, so I couldn't pass this up, but now it's going to arrive just in time for valentine's day! "Aw shucks, honey, you shouldn't have!" Oh, well.

By the way, the promo code is SAVON120 (no "E").

Thanks for the post. I've also been looking for quite some time for a deal on this router. Almost bought it when it went to $159 from $199 but when I went to purchase it the price jumped again - can't figure the Amazon pricing. Also looks like Amazon isn't counting the DeWalt recip. raw as part of a power tool purchase any more (I tried to get the router/raizer/saw for savon220 and freew300 but could only get savon120 even though the total purchase was $304).

If mounted in a table is something like a Router Raized needed?

Mike, these current amazon.com promotions are tricky and a little confusing (above and beyond the computer snafus they are apparently having, I mean).

The SAVONx20 promotions apply only to selected "drills, routers, sanders, lathes, joiners, combo kits and other power tools for woodworking." If the item listing includes the little yellow WOODWORKING SALE banner *and* the SAVONx20 promotion is described on the item page, it is eligible. If those things aren't there, it's not eligible. If you click on the listing for the DeWalt saw, as if you wanted to buy it alone, you will see that neither the yellow banner nor the SAVONx20 blurb is there.

Moral of the story is, you have to read carefully and keep your wits about you ...
          Larry

Wow that IS a great deal! I got up to the final page where I'm gonna click to confirm the order and I backed out... I wanted something for handheld use, and I thought this router was hefty for it, right? I guess I'll save up for the Bosch two-base kit since money is tight right now.... but this is a great deal!

Yet another router to the collection. One trim, one for the table, one for the EZ guide, and now one plung for hand held use so I still need one for the BT table!
If I'd known it was harmless I'd have killed it myself.

Is the M12V the same router included the rockler KM12V kit, which includes a motor, fixed and plunge bases and a template kit for $179?

Nope, it is not the same one. But if someone can tell me how the newer KM12V compares to the M12V, I would appreciate it.
I swear I measured it right this time.

No experience with either but spec-wise, they're apples and oranges. The M12V is a plunge-only model rated a 3.25HP. The KM12V is a relatively new router that is available with either a fixed base, or in a kit that includes both a fixed and a plunge base (the generic term for these rigs is "PK") and is rated at 2.25HP.

You would think the marketers at Hitachi could have come up with a model number for the KM12V that wouldn't cause so much confusion with the older M12V.

Having jumped on the tool-buying frenzy a little late... I am now looking for a router to complement my new table. It appears I missed a great bargain last month on the M12V which seems to be a very popular 'best bang for the buck' choice. While it is a plunger model.. it seems everybody buys this monster for a table mount application. It seems the M12V has many of the features suitable for table use.. at a fraction of the cost.

My question is... now that the $129 sale is over, this router is going for $159-$16=$143 w/ free shipping (last day for 10% off sale). Is this still a good deal and worth jumping on... or should I be patient because another deal is sure to be around the corner? I don't mind waiting if that is the better option. I was originally going to get a smaller plunger/fixed package deal (like the Bosch).. but a dedicated 3+HP router for my table would be my goal eventually. If this is still a great deal, I do not mind getting the fixed router first....

Hey PALefty, I think the question I'm hearing you ask is "is it worth $143 shipped?"

I'd say absolutely, but the cahnces are good you'll be able to shave that 13 bucks off at some point if you wait patiently.

So can you get 13 bucks worth of good out of it between now and then? I thought it did great at the work I did with it handheld--just cause everyone else is table mounting theirs doesn't mean you have to.

There's a great deal on a freud router on amazon right now.

I'm surprised that Amazon still has that router in stock. So many people (myself included) grabbed one for $79 last month when that $80-off coupon glitch was discovered. If you do get one for table use, look on the Woodpeckers site for the M12V version of the Plunge-Lift. You can build one kick-ass table around that set-up.
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!
