    Trike

I am feeling better these days and able to do more. Rode a mission with the Patriot Guard on Tuesday for the first time since I got sick.

Getting back to working on my trike. One of the problems I found was that the tail lights were designed to hold license plates. With my plate mounted on the trunk door I was getting the flash of the light through the tail light top clear lens when I checked to see if traffic was clear on lane changes. At night it bothered me and screwed up my vision a little. I bought some black chrome frames and am having 'vanity' plates to mount over both lights. What is in the picture are photos that I laminated to make sure the idea would work. The PGR plate is printed and shipped. Still working with the guy that makes to plate on the right. He only had full size (6x12) plates but is ordering some 4x7 motorcycle plates. Said he has had other requests for them.

Next project is to paint the new inner fairing to match, touch up the fairing and get it all switched out. Also have some minor oil leaking around the rocker covers. When I fix that I am going to replace the rocker covers and lifter covers. The chrome is peeling on mine from the bike spending its first years in the salt air on the Texas coast. The last thing is to color sand, re-clear coat, and buff out the main body. While I have the body off I am going to rewire the rear lights to Harley color codes.

Still haven't finished my tag along trailer either. Need to order the 'glass to make the fenders then get it painted and wired. I may put that ahead of the main body/wiring work on the trike.

That is really good to hear, Don!

Very nice looking machine. I like the idea of those vanity plates.

Looking good. I remember you did quite a lot of body work on this mod.

Never ridden a motorcycle or trike for that matter. Can't say I've paid too much attention to them except when they go screaming past. I can't say I've ever seen one with a handicap plate, though.

Actually handicap and disabled vet plates aren't that uncommon on bikes. I have them because I sometimes need to be close to the bathroom when I get up and walk after sitting down like driving or riding. The back and knees aren't as good as the used to be, either.

Most parking lots have a striped or open area on the end where it is common to see bikes parked. As long as they aren't in the area that is for a handicap van to deploy the ramp it isn't a problem. A trike takes more space than is sometimes available.

I've never ridden a motorcycle but I'm sure if I did, the field I would end up in, would not be bluebonnets. Probably poison ivy.

Nice trike and beautiful pictures, Don.
