    Back to the Hospital

I have been having some puss like leakage from the site where the stoma was since a couple of months after the reversal was done. The area will heal up and then a pocket will form a few weeks later, break open, and drain. I also have had some discharge from the original surgical site when my colon was removed.

There have been 2 cat scans done and no evidence of the leakage being from the intestine but I can feel an increase in discharge after I eat of drink. Went back to see the surgeon last week and he thinks it may be a couple of stitches that didn't dissolve. He is going to have to go back in, take a look, and clean up what he finds. Neither the surgeon of my gastro can figure out why the flow is heavier after eating or drinking.

If it turns out to be stitches it will be outpatient. If he has to go in deeper I will be in the hospital for a few days. Probably won't try to get it done until sometime in October. The surgeon says there is no rush and it is more of an irritant to me and hassle of keeping it bandaged than anything else. Want to finish the last of the flood clean up before I go down again.

Hopefully it's as simple to resolve as possible. Will be thinking of you.

Sorry to hear that you are still having some problems after your surgery. I hope the surgeon can find the problem and that it is a fairly simple fix.

Best wishes for a quick and full recovery,

Good luck Pappy. Keep smiling, they'll get it straightened out.
