between Clancy and Ray Dolby (I'm an audio nut) --- it's been a lousy week.

I grew up in the DC area, with a lot of friends working for sensitive government offices/organizations.

Some of them would read and stare with wonder ------- asking where the heck Clancy got his information.

I heard he was even an occasional guest speaker for NSA's new employee orientation.

Dude was a masterful storyteller, delving you into the minutae of it. Papa in some respects reminds me of him.

Well based on that endorsement Cochese, I just ordered both of Papa's novels to my kindle.

          RIP

I have read some of his novels, and though many find his detail to be a great quality, I sometimes thought it took away from the story.... a little overkill. I still enjoyed the story when I got through it!

His first is in my Top 5 of the last ten years or so. Haven't finished the second one. Good stuff, but then I'm a fan of WWII literature.

              Wow...unexpected.
I've read pretty much all of his solo authored stuff, didn't care for it when he 'co-authored', but loved his own work.
Enjoyed the movie adaptations of his work too, he kept some control and maintained at least some of the story's integrity.
