    Engineering Marvel

Having grown up in East Tennessee, I'm accustomed to seeing the TVA dams and the locks that allow boats to go from a high water level to a low water level and vice versa. But I have never seen anything like the link between two canals in Scotland.

The Falkirk Wheel is indeed awesome.

While you're on water-based engineering, I personally like the Magdeburg Water Bridge.

These things make me wonder how much pressure is expressed on the abutments or other support device. It must be tremendous.
