If my (sarcasm on) fine, outstanding (sarcasm off) neighbor decides to clean out his bee hives when I am outside I have to stop what I am doing and go inside until about 20 - 30 minutes after he is done. Either that or endure 5 or 6 bee stings. His hives are about 200' from my shop and driveway.
I am off one day during the week and he seems to always clean out his hives on that day. Would love to kill a few of them that swarm toward me!

We did some testing last night out by our floodlights. Gotta say it does zap them. It does some sparking, and makes loud cracking sound when making contact. Will it kill bees...I'm betting yes. For less than $3.00, it's effective, and FUN.
About a year ago I was standing in the middle of the street watching the yellow jackets swarm out of the ground from around where my water meter was. My ever helpful neighbor came out and handed me one of those. Said it would kill the darn things so fast that it would not have a chance to do it's danger scent thing that sics the other ones on you. I have to say neither of us had enough nerve to try it. So in answer to your question, you may want to hand it to a neighbor........
They work great. I've used them on flys, wasps and hornets. Even use them on bore bees. It doesn't kill the bore bees but it does stun them enough to finish them off with your heel.
I've had one of those electric fly-swatters for a couple of years. One really nice feature is that you can get flies and other insects in flight. You don't need to "swat" the fly on a flat surface.
In my house there is a spot behind wall-mounted sconse lights in the bathroom. Flies seem to go there to hide. Can't swat at the flies without hitting the light globes, so I just push the button on the electric fly-swatter in one hand and shoo at the fly with the other, causing him to fly into the grid. The grid is probably 3x the size of typical fly swatters. Work's great!
I tried it on a full size bee today, and it zapps them real good, with quite a bit of sparking. I will say if you bee in a swarm, you better bee a fast runner.
