    wow ---- what a difference

I've been gearing up to build a Morris chair.

Since I'm working with some fairly dense oak, I decided I'd treat my BT3000 to a new plade. Nothing fancy --- I picked up a 40T Diablo blade.

Holy smokes (well actually --- holy sawdust)!

I'm cutting 1+ inch oak like butter!

Cool, isn't it? I'm always pleasantly surprised when I use a freshly-sharpened blade—I don't get in the shop every day, so my blades dull pretty slowly and I don't always notice.

A new blade for sure, but a purposed blade is really noticeable. It makes changing blades a pleasure to feel the difference.

I have been cutting so much pine lately that my blades are is serious need of cleaning. I had my Diablo rip blade on the BT and when I switched back to my 80T Avanti I gave it a quick cleaning. Still some crud stuck to the teeth but much better!

          clean & sharp

I find that cleaning all the pitch/sap off the blade helps in prolonging the sharpness. I used to have a 12 T blade just for ripping hard wood. It would rip through 10/4 hard wood like butter. Too bad they don't make um anymore.
