    Hello My Friends

I guess I didn't realize it had been so long since I have been here. According to the header my last visit was 02-05-2011. Time flies as they say.

I was going through all my woodworking magazines cutting out articles that I thought I might want to reference someday and then scanning them into Evernote when BT3Central popped into my head and I had to head on over. Looks like there are changes on the horizon and things are in good hands.

I expect to be around more often. My newest project should involve a bit of woodworking.

In the spring I "accidently" bought a Morgan 36' Out Island sailboat on ebay. It took awhile to get her moved close to my house in Red Lion, PA so I can work on her. Here she is at her new home that we affectionately call the Red Lion Yacht Club. Here are some pics (sorry for the quality) of her main salon and you can see why woodworking skills might come into play here.

I hope to have her in the water for the 2014 season. Unfortunately that may be optimistic.

Agreed. Rick, it looks like you need everything but the kitchen sink Sorry couldn't pass that one up... but seriously, it looks like you will need a complete interior! Cabinets and bunks I assume. What happened to the old ones?

Not sure the galley sink will survive either. We'll see.

Not sure how she got to the state she is in. Her hull is sound. The deck has a soft spot where the core will need replaced. The aft cabin is in ok shape although the head will need a bit of sprucing up. The V-berth which you can see into in one of the pictures needs a little work. The main salon will be gutted and completely refit as will all the mechanical and electrical systems. And she needs a new engine.

I hope you got a steal of a deal on her... that engine could be a real hardship.

Have you decided what kind of wood you would like for the interior? Or are you thinking of using some type of laminate or plastic resin sheet material for the walls?

WB Rick, been wondering about you! Looks like you do have your work cut out. Should be good for a bunch of pic intense threads.

i certainly don't envy your on this project. from my boating days in my 20s, i remember nothing was straight on a boat. almost everything had a gentle curve to it somewhere or a rounded edge or rounded over something. good luck with it.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.

Shouldn't be so much of an 'optomistic' time line. You should be able to heat the cabin areas to work on them in the cooler weather then work on the deck and hull while it is warmer.

Pappy - How the heck are you doing? Trust me, it is a very optimistic time line. I'm looking at putting up a Stimson Shed over it this winter and yes working on the interior. I just need to figure out how to get 16' 1x3's to do that.

I paid twice as much to have her transported 100 miles than I paid for the yacht so I think it was a great deal. A marine diesel engine/transmission brand new will be in the $7k range but my goal on this project is to do it with as much recycled material as possible. I'm hoping to find something for less than $3k.

Mark, hope you and the Missus are doing well. How's the son doing with his broken bones? There will definitely be pics.
