    If your rear blinkers are on the trunk lid, there could be an intermittent break in a wire where the harness flexes near the trunk hinge, due to repeated flexing whenever the trunk in opened/closed.

      I bought a little butane powered soldering iron at Lowes a couple of years ago and really like it. You can solder anywhere since no need for electricity and there are several sizes of interchangeable tips. Also, leaving the tips off makes it into a small torch which you can use on heat shrink. As I recall, it was less than $15 and has been very handy.
