I am running a new computer and installed Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. Acrobat installed without a hitch, placed a shortcut on my desktop, and shows up in the programs list.
Flash Player is another story.
When I tried to download it went to the page saying the download would start automatically, and stopped. Going the the help section wasn't much help. I went to the direct download link and got it installed. It doesn't show up in the programs list in the start menu and din't place a shortcut on the desktop. If I go to uninstall programs in the computer, it is there. One of the help/trouble shooting pages in Adobe has a box that is supposed to show the version installed or an eror message. The box is completely blank.
When I try to link to a video from my email, the videos won't play if they are html. I did a search for updates/fixes from Adobe and nothing helped. A search for alternatives to Flash came up empty except for HTML5 which is still in the testing stage and and has very limited application.
My brother is having the same issues with Flash on both of his computers. His laptop is new and he had to install it. The problems started on his desk top computer when he loaded the upgrade from Adobe.
I tried to download an earlier version from the Adobe site but Adobe overides the download and take you to the latest version. Same thing happens when I tried to get an earlier version from another site. (oldapps.com)
