    Air Expo

The Flying Cloud Airport is running an Air Expo this weekend. Some great planes on the ground an in the air! I took over 1000 photos, and got sunburned pretty bad...

You've got some great pictures. I've been to a few air shows put on here at the beach. They were land-sea-air type shows. Not much on the ground for pictures.

Thousands of pictures...remember the days we needed rolls of film?

Did you get a shot of the MIG that ended up on Flying Cloud Drive? Seems on landing the pilot popped his chute to slow the jet and it ripped off.

      OOPS!

      Bad decisions make good stories.

I'd to throw a plug in for the Collings Foundation Air Show next weekend at the Anoka Airport.

My 25 year-old nephew, Whit, is the chief mechanic for the B-17 and the B-24!

Whit's on the left, next to his brother, Chris.

He's been working for a war-bird restoration company near his home in Florida since he was 16. He got an aircraft management degree from Embry-Riddle University along with an airframe certificate and an aircraft engine certificate.

My grandkids and I are going up on Friday and my 12 year-old grandson, Quinn, will get to live his life's ambition. He wants to sit in the B-17 belly-gun turret!
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

The official word was that the chute did not deploy completely. Article and photo here: http://www.twincities.com/localnews/...-cloud-airport

The MIG was not on display, probably hidden away in one of the hangars :-( The Warthog wasn't on display either, so this was strictly a piston engine affair. The late addition of a P-38 made up for that though.

As far as film: I would never have gotten the shots I did. I love "digital" film!

I love seeing old iron fly, hard to find good shows here in Ga.,but while diggin thru my Dad's stuff we found some old pics of a B-24 that I found that had been restored and had conversations with the builders after sending them copys of the pics my Dad had taken in Okinawa. He flew a 47 and 39 tankbuster in the Pineapple Air Corp.
