    Sanders on CL

Found on Craigslist--Craftsman 6/9 belt/disc sander. Needs a little cleaning of sawdust, about a dozen belts, smooth running 3/4 hp motor, new belt. Paid the asking price. $50.

Got there and he also had a Fein Detail Sander, MSx 636-1, in the case with a spare pad and a few sanding pads. I wasn't really interested as i bought a c-man cordless multi tool a few months back. He plugged it in and i turned it on--first time with a Fein. Solid and hard to believe it was even running. Gave him $30. I'm thinking there is an adapter that will accept other multi-tool blades--true?? Way different class than c-man nextec!!

Probably not gloat prices--but nice stuff at very fair prices. And a pretty drive with my pretty LOML to pick it up!!

I have that sander and the Fein. You did get a great buy! That sander has been very handy to me.

Definitely gloat worthy on both tools. You'll find you will be using your belt/disc more than you think.

Not until i get some belts shipped in...the glue joints were so dry they started to separate as i was putting them on last night. The guy said he bought both (along with 10" Ryobi planer, Skil bandsaw and Senco stapler) about 5 years ago, and hadn't even plugged any of them in. Original owner was a retired dentist (who i knew) that had developed Alzheimers so the wife wanted the tools out of the house.

Sawdust on both tools was really old, but powdered right off. The finish on the sander itself, once dusted, looks factory fresh. Cleaned up very nicely.

Any chance Gorilla Glue might save the old belts? Don't think i'm willing to try it, but i'm tempted--just so i can tinker today.

I haven't tried GG, but I haven't had good luck with a myriad of other glues. I did have some luck with silicone carbide belts (for glass) using a two part epoxy. But it didn't last that long.

I inherited some belts with a sander and I didn't have any luck with any glues either. Wish I had better news.

Save the belts for sanding blocks and maybe for sharpening & lapping.
