    Paper Punching

After almost 30 years I have started shooting again. First time out I used my home defense weapon, a 9mm Walther, and found it to expensive and punishing on the hand to be fun.
The solution to that was to get a .22 handgun so a Ruger MKIII 22/45 was added to the arsenal. I added nice wood grips, a Red Dot sight and a couple internal mods and thought I was ready to head for the range. I stopped by the gun shop on the way for some extra ammo and they were just unpacking a shipment of rifles. The only rifle that I had is a pre 64 Winchester mdl 94 and I am sure not going to shoot it so I took home a Henry Frontier .22 LR.

Today I finally made it to the range with the Ruger and the Henry and had a blast. The Henry is the sweetest thing to shoot that I have ever handled, I need to work on my technique with the Ruger.

What fun! I love those .22 pistols. Fun to shoot, not too expensive, and as you mentioned, doesn't kill the hand.

That Henry sure is a pretty rifle. I've been thinking of getting one in 30-30 for deer hunting on my FIL's farm. What I like about Henrys is they eject straight up, instead of into my face (I'm a lefty.)

Ever try to find a left-handed bolt-action? They're expensive, and a righty is REAL awkward to use.

Nice tight group with the Henry! Looks like you have your trigger finger in too tight on the Ruger. Try backing off so the middle of the pad on your trigger finger is on the trigger.

I don't go to a range (part of the advantage of living outside the city limits) but set up a target and backstop in the back yard once in a while. I bought this from the Cabela's used rack for $85. The same rifle I learned to shoot with.

I must agree the Henry 22LR is a sweet little gun, feels good, cheap to shoot and one of the few things still "Made in the USA". I love mine.
