    building rubic's cube

I didn't think it could be done - but my 13 yr old is busy proving me wrong.

My son asked me to cut out a bunch of cubes for him (did it).

Then - he asked me how to use forstner bits on my drill press ---- then he asked me how to use the scroll saw ---- then he asked me for a sander ---- then he asked me how to use a dremel tool.

Before I knew it ---- he'd put together most of a rubic's cube!

The weird thing is --- he didn't have any plans! He watched a video on youtube........

He's still making it --- but this thing is seriously intricate.

I don't think it will be long before he wants to use the tools himself......

You have the makings of a machinist or a modelmaker or an engineer. If he keeps this up, he won't have a problem finding a job.

I agree with chopnhack. Keep feeding it.

will do ----- but he's not touching the table saw, yet.......

I can stomach the dremel, the drill press, and even the scroll saw....

I'm simply not quite ready to let the 13 yr old touch my bt.

(especially when cutting out 1" square cubes)

That is cool. I'm looking for that spark of interest in my 20 month old girl but she still runs away and sometimes cries when I use the drill or driver.
