Got is as part of my inheritance today Its some kind of steel c channel with a repeating pattern of slots and holes. The end caps are some kind of orange plastic.

Tool holder, pliers, screw drivers and other things with handles, IIRC.

For some reason, my google searches after I wrote that, pulled up a lot of different patents back in the '80s for the Hirsh company for shelves with holes. It was hard to find pictures but there were a couple of very small drawings.

I remember them being advertised back in the '80's.

Hirsh makes shelving and storage components.

My wild guess ---- it's a bracket for a shelving/storage system -

The round holes can take a dowel/rod.

I looked up the instructions, but it didn't appear to be what I thought it might have been. I thought it was the shutoff bar from the Hirsh saw table. I have/had (in storage somewhere in a garage sale pile), both their saw table and thier miter maker (converted a circular saw to a miter saw).
