    Surgery Update And Nurses

First, thanks to those that wished me well. For those that didn't...I got your names.

Everything went well, and all the registration and paperwork was more of a hassle than the procedure. Laying on the gurney in the pre-op area, I remember the doc feeding the magic into my arm. I tried to stay awake, but the next time I opened my eyes, I was in the same place, and all was done. Almost like getting flashed with the MIB handheld time warp.

So, they roll me to recovery, and I have a cooler pad attached to my knee. No more ice packs. This thing is cool...literally. It's basically an ice cooler that you put ice and water in, and a pump circulates it to a wrap pad. Works like a champ.
    Check it out.

I can walk, but it's a slow go. I have crutches and a cane. The cane is easier I think. At least I can carry a cup of coffee.

    Oh yeah...nurse. Check it out.

Glad you came through it well. My mom recovered from knee replacement surgery quickly and well. Glad to hear you are doing the same.

Glad to hear it all went well. Therapy is a pita, but you just have to keep saying to yourself 'this will work'. In the long run, you'll be able to jump the high hurdles again:-)

As for the nurse....in your dreams! (Mine too!)

Glad every thing went well. Hope the Phys therapy isn't to bad. If I woke up and found a nurse like that, the would have to take back in OR and get my heart going.70 year old don't need that or do we?

Glad to hear you're doing fine Mike!

Just a few days, (I know maybe a couple of weeks at most) and you'll be you ol grumpy self again...:-) Just take it easy and do the exercises(?) as they tell you.
Yeah, those time warp devices are cool, Tommy L. Jones really liked using his, lol.
And the nurse? Who needs pain meds with her with ya???
But that cooling pad?!?! 1650 dollars???
Get well friend and you'll do great soon.

            Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Be careful : with that sort of nurse (in real, or in your mind), you stand a good chance of going back to the hospital - this time because wife puts you there !

Glad the surgery went well. When I had my shoulder repaired, they put me in on one of the recirculating cold packs. Be careful with bare skin as I found it to get a very large surface area dangerously cold in very short order. When on my shoulder, it would actually make my body shiver after 15 mins and that's at 6' and 210lbs.

You're right. My knee and surrounding area is Ace wrapped (like a compression sock). This system is great, as there are no ice packs to keep replacing. The controls have a temperature dial for regulating how cold you want it.

                    Hey Cab,

If that's your nurse, then you're getting way too much morphine in your drip

                    Heal well my friend.

Or maybe not enough - - for the nurse's sake.

Have a speedy recovery and follow the advice of the physical therapist religiously.

                      Regards, Steve.

Glad to see you back on the boards, Mike. Hope the recovery goes swiftly for you.

You'd better forget about the nurse, and just take happy pills. You'll live longer.
