Neat picture. When I took delivery of my convertible at the BMW Performance Center we spent the morning getting little lessons from instructors. One of them was on ABS. They set up cones and a stop line and had us accelerate to first 40, then 45, then 50 mph and slam on the brakes - pedal all the way down. You got yelled at over a radio in your car if you didn't get on the brakes hard enough to activate the ABS. The cones forced you to steer in the 45 and 50 mph stops. The point was that you don't really need to pump the brakes or anything like that in a car with ABS. You can just "stand on them" and you will stop about as short as the car can stop. You can steer the whole time.
