It's coming fast and I need help

It is almost that time of year again. I have been getting busy stealing all the ideas I can from Woodsmith and Wood magazines for Christmas presents.

Wood has had a series on heavy equipment toys and Woodsmith has been doing some nice boxes and such like that. I have made four diffirent boxes and will be making a road grader for my soon to be three year old grandson.

MY question is where to buy some of the hardware they recommend? A couple of the boxes recommend little brass feet, holy cow they can get pretty spendy with shipping and all.

The next question is bendy plywood, I need eight 12x12x1/16 for another pattern but I am not willing to spend $15.00 to $20.00 for a 12X24 sheet.

    Thanks for your input.

Try places like craft stores. Michale's is one in my area that has some of what you are looking for. And, often a substitution is much less expensive. The local ACE hardware has an ares with all kinds of odd parts and fasteners. I have used little brass things for feet and small knobs. I have no idea what they really are meant for but they work for me. There is always brass rub-n-buff on small wood parts to make them look like brass.

My local lumber supplier carries 4x8 sheets of bendy ply/wiggle wood. I think I bought 1/8" there but I'm sure they could get 1/16", too. It was several years ago and I think I paid ~$50-$70/sheet. You'd be able to get 16 12"x24" sheets from one 4'x8'.

Jim, how much Bendy Board do you need? I have about 4 sheets here and I can cut some off for you.

It is dark like walnut though.

Thanks DF, I did find some 1/8 in bendy board. Once I get the shipping and all it gets a bid spendy. I need to decide for sure if I want to do this project.

I did see a post from Cman I beleive about bending plywood using kerf cuts and body filler and for strength it does sound like it would be stronger. I will be laminating the bent items anyway.
