Wooden Quilts to Benefit Japan Relief

This relief project began in March and the wooden quilts were assembled recently and just listed on EBay. My contribution is the Japanese Crane jigsaw puzzle on the scroll sawn quilt, on the top, second from the right. It was one of my first projects with a scroll saw.

I'm enjoying the scroll saw, but can't wait to try out my band saw and make some boxes.

"Wooden quilt made of scroll sawn and woodburned squares lashed together. To benefit the Red Cross relief efforts in Japan after the tsunami March 11, 2011, members of three* message boards and two woodcarving clubs banded together to create 4" by 4" squares, which were assembled into a wooden quilt. Member of the Woodcarving Illustrated, Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts, and Pyrography Online message boards, and two carving clubs, the Loraine (Ohio) County Woodcarvers and the Mississippi Valley Woodcarvers of Bettendorf, Iowa, created the squares. This quilt is mainly scroll sawn with a few woodburned squares. There are seven squares across and seven squares down for a total of 49 squares. Two other quilts are also up for auction right now."

Beautifully done! Great! At this time, most of the relief efforts by outsiders are winding down, but inside the country, they really are needing more. Thank You!
