Worse, he will pay a fine and nothing else from the legal side. The average guy would get his license yanked for doing almost 3x the limit.

His worst problems could be sanctions from NASCAR.

Over the last few years my opinion of NASCAR's leadership has been sliding downhill. How they react to this incident will be even more telling. I truly hope that Pappy is incorrect and the local authorities throw the book at him. At the very least once Bush is convicted or bleads out, NASCAR should hand down a multiple race suspension. A speeding ticket is one thing but driving 83 mph over the speed limit should come with some very severe punishment.

Man ,What a tough crowd here. I don't agree with what he was doing since he has the ability to race on a closed course each week, but I can readily recall doing the exact same thing at his age and not getting caught in more than 1 vehicle on a public roadway. Now if you read his reaction apparently he was test driving a new soon to be purchased sports car and if you'll see where the location actually was it was a backroad in the country, not a city or hwy. So I think its kinda daft to be to concerned about it. Its his status that make the issue larger than life.Just my 2 cents, heres another article showing the area map where this occured, http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/blog/...=nascar-wp1502

That is precisely why he shouldn't be allowed to skate on this. He, of all people, should know and realize what a horrible example his actions were. And you doing the same thing back in the day and not getting caught still doesn't downplay how stupid doing something like that is. Also, wherever the location was is a moot point.

Agrred, but for me I'm not considered a professional driver anymore as my SCCA license has not been renewed in 15 yrs, none the less where else are you going to test a cars ability to brake at high speeds or check its handling capabilities unless you have access to a closed course? Nowhere, thats why the back country road comes into play as a safer alternative. Not saying its right but smarter than say jeopardizing the lives of others on a Hwy or city street. I doubt he'll get more than a fine and maybe some sort of public service. Afterall is was in N.C and they are kinda used to those moonshiners on the back roads. " And there was thunder ,thunder

Busted...yeah right! Was ticketed only...not taken to jail like ordinary citizens would have been. Nascar drivers are all like other "sports stars", just slapped on the hand with a fine and told to not do that again kind of reprimand, when they get caught breaking the rules that the rest of us have to up hold.
